This event is online-only. Get yourself primed for the holiday season and join us for an online conversation you won't want to miss! Charles Duhigg, author of the bestselling books The Power of Habit and Smarter Faster Better, presents the ultimate guide on how to communicate and connect with anyone at work, home, and in life in his latest work, Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret Language of Connection.

In this groundbreaking book, Duhigg unravels the secrets of the supercommunicators to reveal the art - and the science - of successful communication. He unpicks the different types of everyday conversation and pinpoints why some go smoothly while others swiftly fall apart. He reveals the conversational questions and gambits that bring people together. And he shows how even the most tricky of encounters can be turned around.

About the Author: Charles Duhigg is a Pulitzer Prize–winning investigative journalist and the author of Supercommunicators, The Power of Habit and Smarter Faster Better. A graduate of Harvard Business School and Yale University, he is a winner of the National Academies of Sciences, National Journalism, and George Polk awards.

  3. [4:00 pm] Death Cafe
    [ProgramImage1]

Location: Chapin Memorial Library - Large Study Room (207)
    Program Type: Adult

A Death Cafe is a time and place where people, often strangers, come to share cake, sip tea or coffee, and discuss death openly and honestly. The aim is to increase awareness about death in order to help people make the most of their (finite) lives. There is never an intention of leading participants to any conclusion, product or course of action. Interesting conversations are guaranteed!

We’ll embrace the principles of the International DeathCafé movement that began in London, as we will try to foster a deeper understanding of death and its role in shaping our lives.

There's no agenda, no sales pitches — just authentic conversations driven by the interests of the participants. All are welcome to attend any/all sessions and can participate as much as they are comfortable. However, it's important to note that this is not a grief support group or counseling session — it's a space for questioning, sharing, exploration and connection.

These are no-charge events. Brian Long, who has led more than 80+ Death Cafes in Pennsylvania and Myrtle Beach, is our facilitator.

*Minors under the age of 17 are required to have parental consent to attend.

*Each cafe session is limited to 10 participants.
